A Japanese office lady is content with her single lifestyle until she encounters Robin, an English University fellow, in Tokyo. They fall in love, get married, and move to England. But married life is not what Robin expects and the eccentric Englishman takes to locking himself in a room upstairs every night. Derived from an old Japanese folk tale of love between a peasant and a crane, this is a love story loosely based on Kazuko’s experience of a cross-cultural relationship, loneliness and how to survive it.
